DOMINO’S WHEEL-Y EXTRAORDINARY BLOOMSDAY DELIVERY

1 January 2022

- SURPRISE JOYCEAN DELIVERY TO ECCLES STREET IN CELEBRATION OF 15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF DRUMCONDRA DOMINO’S -

This morning, Domino’s, the nation’s favourite pizza, surprised and dough-lighted passers-by on Dublin’s Eccles Street with a truly extraordinary delivery by penny farthing bicycle. The delivery celebrated Ireland’s most influential writer, James Joyce as part of the Bloomsday celebrations, which take place on Saturday, 16 June, close to the Drumcondra store.

This Bloomsday marks the 15 year anniversary of Domino’s Drumcondra serving the local community and ‘Joyceans’ at the festival. To celebrate, penny farthing cyclist, Marty Mannering, delivered an array of freshly handmade pizza to festival goers. Decked out in a Domino’s 1900’s-inspired uniform of bowler hat, blue shirt with red braces and bowtie, the delivery enchanted all who witnessed the spectacle.

Bloomsday is celebrated annually to commemorate the day on which, Joyce’s classic Ulysses is set in 1904, though the Bloomsday Festival runs from Monday, 11 to Saturday, 16 June. Domino’s paid tribute to the literary legend on this won-dough-ful day in true ‘Leopold Bloom style’ by making the first-ever penny farthing pizza delivery to his fictional home in Eccles Street.

Aiga Mariana Grisan, Domino’s Drumcondra Store Manager said: “Dublin city springs to life in celebration of the Bloomsday festival each year so I’m delighted Domino’s is marking the anniversary of the great James Joyce’s Ulysses with a special penny farthing delivery in his honour. We like to think Leopold Bloom would have appreciated our freshly handmade Pepperoni Passion somewhat more than a gorgonzola sandwich!”
